What You'll Need:
Download the Free PDF Lesson:
Star Tempera Black Paint
White card (200g)
Heavier weight card
Paint trays
Brushes
Glue
Glue spreader
Newspaper
Pencil
Scissors
Let's Get Started:
Prepare Your Workspace:
Lay down newspaper to protect your surfaces.
Get Your Paint Ready:
Pour each of the 6 Star Tempera Metallic colours into separate paint trays and place a brush in each one.
Create the Metallic Background:
Take the white card and start "blobbing" dots of paint randomly with one colour. Then, switch to another colour and continue until the entire page is filled. You can gently brush across the dots to merge the colours if you like. Set aside to dry.
Paint the Background:
Pour a bit of Star Tempera Black paint into a clean tray. Paint the heavier-weight card, using a crisscross pattern with the brush for a textured effect. Set aside to dry.
Make the Zebra Stripes:
Turn the dried metallic sheet over and draw the outlines of zebra stripes with a pencil. Once satisfied, cut out the stripes.
Assemble Your Zebra:
Arrange the stripes on the black card. Pour some glue into a clean tray and use the glue spreader to attach each stripe, leaving gaps between them. Set aside to dry.
