Bright Ideas: Dropper Painting Art Lesson for Kids
Today we’re going to make beautiful dyed paper with bold colours and patterns. Kids will love this because every sheet comes out different – it’s like magic!

You will need:
Absorbent paper (blotting paper, rice paper, coffee filters, or even paper towels)
5 Star Water-Soluble dye or EZI Dye (bright colours work best)
Small bowls or containers for the dye
Eye droppers (optional but fun)
Aprons, rubber gloves, a cover sheet/newspaper, and paper towels

Let’s get started:
Put on aprons and set up your dye containers, one colour per bowl.
Fold your paper into eighths or sixteenths.
Dip one folded corner into a colour, then carefully remove it (don’t over soak).
Dip another corner into a different colour. Keep going until you’ve tried a few colours.
Gently open the paper to reveal your colourful patterns.
Lay flat and allow to dry.
Tips for success:
Cut shapes into the paper before dipping for fun designs.
Try using an eye dropper to drip colours onto folded paper.
You can also use the eye dropper on a flat sheet to create splashes of colour.
Less soaking means brighter, crisper designs.
Kids will love the surprise of unfolding their paper and seeing the colours mix into unique patterns. This is a quick, easy, and very creative classroom or home activity.
